Chain slip is the most common problem that every cyclist faces during cycling. Poor shifting technique, extra chain links, worn-out chains, or worn-out rear casters can all cause this de-chain problem. In this article, we mentioned easy-to-follow steps which will help you in fixing this de-chain problem.
If your chain has slipped during cycling then before getting off the cycle you have to switch from the current gear to the lowest gear by using the gear shifter.
Then get off the bike and lift the rear wheel of the bicycle and start pedaling with your hand. If this particular step failed to release the tension on the chain, then you have to push the derailleur to further release the tension on the chain.
After that, you have to lift the chain with your hand and put it back on the chain ring. After doing so you have to lift the rear wheel of the cycle and start pedaling with your hand. This process may take several attempts but it will work eventually. This is how you can fix the chain of a gear cycle.
How to tighten a loose chain?
If you are experiencing frequent de-chain issues then this might be caused due to a loose chain. Here are the following steps that you need to take to tighten a loose chain, to tighten a loose chain you need a tool which is known as a chain breaker. This tool will help you in removing the chain pin or bearing pin.
To remove the chain pin you have to put the chain on the outer chain guide of the chain breaker. After putting the chain on the chain breaker start rotating the given handle. As soon as you start rotating the handle of the chain breaker you will notice the bearing pin will start coming out of the chain link.
Once the bearing pin is removed from the chain, rotate the handlebar of the chain breaker in the opposite direction and remove the chain breaker. You have to remove the extra chain links by repeating these steps.
After removing the extra chain links, you have to fit back the chain together. Once the chain is tightened you have to put the chain back on the chain ring and your cycle is ready to use.
